Green home improvement, eco friendly homes, Energy star homesIt’s tax season again and while most of us know that we can take our mortgage interest, insurance premium interest and other tax deductions you may not be aware that if you have installed energy efficient doors, windows and/or skylights you are eligible for another tax break.

To qualify for the following tax credits home improvements must be made by the end of the year and they must be on your primary residence. If you meet these qualifications you will receive a tax credit equal to 10% of the cost of the products. The credit for windows and skylights is $200, doors is $500. Sadly, you cannot deduct installation costs. Be sure to keep all receipts and Energy Star labels for any qualified improvements you make on your home.
